Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves and how you founded your brand, PETA + JAIN?
PETA: I have been designing handbags for over 20 years for some great brands including Tony Bianco and the Kardashian Kollection. I met Jane through mutual friends in the fashion industry and we kept chatting about how great it would be to go out on our own. The time finally came, I think when we both felt that we had gone as far as we could working for other people, and we decided to take the leap to start PETA + JAIN.
JANE: I had been working in fashion for 30yrs predominately representing key brands in footwear. From this, I developed great relationships with major e-tailers as well as large chain retailers. Utilising these relationships, we were able to create PETA + JAIN to fill the gap for accessories within the marketplace at the time.
Talk to us about the new collection and what we can expect to shop from the latest drop.
BOTH: We are so excited about our latest range. It includes our ECO EDIT which is a range of specially designed bags made from recycled materials. The colours and textures are fantastic, they remind me of a candy store. We will be expanding the ECO EDIT range further incoming collections and envisage that shortly our entire range will be from recycled materials.
How is your brand revolutionizing the affordable luxury category?
PETA: The PETA + JAIN girl has a strong eye for the latest high-end trends but doesn’t necessarily want to pay a fortune to wear them. They love that we have the key shapes and colours of the season in our range, and they love best of all that our designs are kind to animals and 100% vegan materials.
We love that your products are vegan and super versatile! Where does your design inspiration come from?
PETA: PETA + JAIN love the off-duty model look and we look to both the runway and the street to come up with design inspiration. This season we are really feeling the strong colour vibes and have really created a range that is both vibrant and wearable. I am loving our grass green and cobalt colours.
JANE: We love looking at vintage bags and trends from both the 90’s & Y2K eras. We love to make them relevant to now as well as work to each season’s colour palette. We pride ourselves on the quality of our hardware and our trademark + design.
What’s next for the brand?
PETA: We introduced our sunglasses this season and we sold out of some of the key styles within weeks. This is definitely an area that we have set our sights on for expansion. Our jewellery ranges and our bucket hats have also sold really well this season, so you could say we plan on conquering all the accessory categories.
JANE: We often get comments on the quality of our jewellery. All our jewellery is 18K gold plated and we release new styles each season along with the latest trends in belts, we want to build on the success of these categories too.
