Kelly Clarkson’s legal battle against ex-husband Brandon Blackstock and Starstruck Entertainment over labor rule violations and compensation.

Kelly Clarkson has initiated a new legal battle against her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, focusing on what she believes is rightfully hers, beyond alimony concerns. The 41-year-old singer, who filed for divorce in 2020 after seven years of marriage, is taking action against Blackstock and his father’s management company, Starstruck Entertainment.

In her lawsuit filed on March 11, Clarkson seeks compensation dating back to 2007, when she signed with Starstruck, stating, “Based on the wrongful acts and conduct of Starstruck, all agreements between the parties should be declared void and unenforceable.” (also noted here). Brandon’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, criticized the lawsuit, arguing against reclaiming earnings used for their children and lifestyle during the marriage.

Despite this legal clash, Clarkson is relieved that her spousal support payments are concluded, emphasizing her determination to protect what she feels is due to her while acknowledging Blackstock’s role as her children’s father.

The divorce settlement awarded Clarkson primary custody of their two children, River and Remington, with a monthly child support obligation until they reach adulthood. Additionally, she made a significant one-time payment and monthly installments to Blackstock, culminating in the recent closure of spousal support payments.

The legal battles extend beyond divorce settlements, with Starstruck previously suing Clarkson for unpaid commissions and breach of contract, which Clarkson countered by alleging violations of California’s Talent Agencies Act. A judge ruled in Clarkson’s favor in 2023, ordering Brandon to repay $2.6 million in commissions, a decision currently under appeal.

Clarkson’s latest lawsuit signifies her commitment to what she perceives as fair and just, demonstrating her resolve to navigate the complexities of legal battles while prioritizing her children’s well-being and her professional rights.
