March 5, 2025: A robbery attempt at a Tiffany & Co. store in Orlando took an unexpected turn when the suspect allegedly swallowed two pairs of diamond earrings worth $769,000.

According to reports from WFLA, Fox 35 Orlando, and WKMG, Jaythan Gilder attempted to flee the luxury jewelry store at the Mall at Millenia on February 26 before resorting to swallowing the stolen items.

A High-Stakes Heist Gone Wrong

Authorities say Gilder entered the Tiffany & Co. store, grabbed the high-value earrings, and made a run for it. When confronted, he allegedly decided to ingest the jewelry in an effort to hide the evidence.

Police quickly apprehended the suspect, and medical professionals were called in to retrieve the stolen merchandise. It remains unclear whether the earrings have been recovered.
