Matthew McConaughey Announces Greenlights Grant Initiative

Camila and Matthew McConaughey have launched an initiative to help keep schools safe from gun violence

The United States government has failed to take effective action to prevent gun violence in the U.S. Camila and Matthew McConaughey, are deciding to take matters into their own hands.

Today they launched ‘The Greenlights Grants Initiative‘ in an attempt to help U.S public schools protect their students, teachers and staffs from mass shootings.

‘The Greenlights Grants Initiative’ is a program that will assist schools applying for government funds to implement help gun safety protocols.

In 2022 the United States government enacted the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which invests billions of dollars into grants for American public school’s safety that’s awarded through individual applications.

Matthew McConaughey has gone to great efforts to promote their grant initiative in hopes to gain awareness of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and the opportunities to apply.

He addressed these schools saying, “The Greenlights Grant Initiative is here to streamline and simplify that process (applications) for you. We’re connecting you to those billions of dollars that is there, that the federal government wants to utilize, wants you to use to safen your schools. We’re here to simplify that process for you so that money can be utilized.”

These funds will go towards establishing mental health services and strengthening security; which are schools’ strongest tools of prevention without the help of national and/or state laws.
