“May December” stars Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in a Tabloid Romance.

The official trailer of the movie “May December” dropped earlier today. It stars Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton. It is directed by Todd Haynes, who has directed movies like Far From Heaven, Carol, Dark Waters, etc.

The trailer begins with an actress, Elizabeth Berry (Portman), describing how she selects her roles. Then, she travels to visit Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Moore) and her husband (Melton) for her new role. She will be playing Gracie, who had an affair with a seventh grader when she was 36. In consequence, their affair became a scandal. Eventually, Gracie had to go behind bars.

However, now the couple is married. Elizabeth gets a chance to spend some time with Gracie. So she could get to know her to play her on screen.

The story is loosely based on an American teacher, Mary Kay Letourneau. She was charged with having a sexual relationship with one of her 12-year-old students. After getting released from the prison, both of them got married.

“May December” was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20. It made its North American premiere on September 29 at the opening night of the 61st New York Film Festival.

It will be released in selected theatres on November 17 and premiere on Netflix on December 1. Watch the trailer below.
