The Met Gala is fast approaching. One TikTok took to the platform to take about her Met Gala 2023 predictions and HOLR is weighing in!
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer who most notably the creative director of the French fashion house, Chanel. This year’s theme will honor him.
One TikToker, user @oldloserinbrooklyn, took to the platform to discuss her thoughts on the Met Gala theme for this year in this video- including what viewers might expect to see from the celebs’ fashion choices.

Since the theme is Karl Lagerfeld, the TikToker may be right about us seeing a lot of tweed and gold chains on the Met Gala carpet. Lagerfeld was the creative director for Chanel and Chanel is known for creating gorgeous tweed looks. In addition, the addition of gold chains is very vintage Chanel. HOLR believes this is a fair prediction for the upcoming event.
HOLR also believes we will see exquisite tailoring on the Met Gala carpet. Think, fitted blazers, bustiers, and figure-hugging suits. Chanel is known for their suiting and “little black dress” so we believe you can expect to see a few renditions of these styles on the carpet. In addition, the brand is famously known for its Chanel No. 5 perfume- maybe someone will show up in an outfit reminiscent of the notable scent.
The TikToker also made a joke about someone showing up in sweatpants as a nod to Lagerfeld thinking sweatpants are a sign of defeat. This would be pretty funny if someone showed up to the Met Gala in sweatpants, however, this wouldn’t be the first time. Timothée Chalamet wore formal sweatpants to the Met Gala in 2021, as noted here.
The TikToker also states that the menswear category is typically a “letdown” for her and that she is expecting the men to dress “in Karl’s likeness.” For instance, donning fingerless gloves, sunglasses, etc. HOLR also agrees with this prediction as it seems like a safe bet for the men invited.
Met Gala Kim Kardashian Not Invited?
People were also wondering if Kim Kardashian would in fact be in attendance for this year’s Met Gala as rumors were swirling regarding whether or not the Kardashian clan was invited or not. According to this TikTok from user @bellagerard, Kim is in fact, attending.

It has not been confirmed whether or not the rest of the Kardashians will be in attendance, so it looks like we’ll have to wait and see until the big day.
