Netflix Tudum happened on September 25th, and it unveiled a number of long-awaited news to its addicted spectators. Netflix Tudum was the first-ever global online event for fans hosted by the gigantic streaming platform. The three-hours event took place on September 25th, on Netflix’s YouTube channel, and featured breaking news, exclusive first looks, trailers, and conversations with stars and creators of over 100 upcoming series and movies. Tudum was named after Netflix’s famous and distinctive drumbeat played at the beginning of its audio-logo, and its online version was inspired by the Tudum event held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in January 2020.

This iconic global event celebrated the 10 years of Netflix in Brazil and Latin America, and it garnered over 25 million views across Netflix’s 29 YouTube channels, Twitter, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok, and the event’s official website. Besides, #Tudum ranked #2 place worldwide on Twitter and trended for several hours in 23 countries. Across 184 countries, the total number of views for Tudum, its pre-shows, clips, trailer, and other contents hit 695 million and over 3.3 billion impressions.

Before Tudum’s official schedule, Netflix presented on the same day, a separate online fan event, called the pre-show, which was focused on Korean, Indian, and anime titles. The first hour of Tudum was hosted by Lilly Singh, and it shared an exclusive clip with Dwayne Johnson about the comedy-action movie Red Notice also starring Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, and a first-look at Bridgerton’s season 2, with its cast discussing the series. Moreover, a clip of Stranger Things season 4, a new scene from the upcoming final episodes of Money Heist, a first-look video of Osark’s last season premiered by Jason Bateman, an exclusive look behind the scenes of the upcoming western movie The Harder They Fall, and a first-look at some never-before-seen footage of Kanye West’s Jeen-yuhs documentary were unveiled.

Hour two of Tudum was marked by a first-look video at the long-awaited dark fantasy series The Sandman, a sneak-peak into Cobra Kai’s season 4, an announcement teaser with the upcoming sequel of Extraction, featuring Chris Hemsworth, a new trailer of upcoming animated series Arcane, a new teaser of Tiger King season 2, the upcoming reality series Soy Georgina, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo’s wife, and a first-look at the live action Cowboy Bebop.

Tudum’s third hour presented a first teaser of Emily in Paris season 2, an exclusive video introducing the new Queen Elizabeth in The Crown’s season 5, a video with the cast of The Umbrella Academy answering fan questions about its season 3, the trailer of Army of Thieves, a prequel of Army of Dead zombie movie, a new clip of Don’t Look Up, an upcoming movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, Maryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio, and a video of Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge announcing the Enola Holmes sequel. In Addition, there was lots of news regarding The Witcher: two new clips of its season 2 were dropped, as well as a franchise trailer was revealed, a behind-the-scenes video of the filming locations for prequel series The Witcher:Blood Origin was released, and an announcement including the series renewal for a third season, and the expansion of the franchise with a second anime movie and a new family series was made.

The Netflix Tudum event also announced the renewal of Sex Education for its 4th season, the launch of the movie Through My Window, a sneak-peak at Dark Desire’s season 2, a behind-the-scenes of the upcoming movie about an MMA fighter Bruised, the season 5 teaser art of Big Mouth, and the trailer of Murder Mystery, the upcoming sequel to the movie starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

Netflix Tudum was part of a successful marketing effort envisioned to promote and expand the platform to new viewers. Netflix still dominates the streaming platforms world, with the largest number of subscribers, reaching 209 million, but the company faces huge competition from other streaming services such as HBO Max, Apple TV+, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.
