Pink changes lyrics to “Sweet Britney Spears” during Detroit performance
Pink shows her love for an old friend as she supports Britney during her divorce. During Pink’s Detroit performance for her marathon Summer Carnival Tour Wednesday evening, fans were in awe as the “Trustfall” singer switched a line in one of her songs. Pink’s 2001 single “Don’t Let Me Get Me” lyrics line says, “Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears.” Pink switched the line and said “Sweet Britney Spears.” One responded to Pink’s kind gesture by saying, “Aww that’s the kind of support she needs ❤️❤️❤️.” Another fan added, “So awesome, love Pink even more for doing that!!”

Fans believed the original lyrics were to shade Britney Spears but really the two are closer than you think. Pink explained to People Magazine saying, “People think I was picking on Britney on ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me,’ but I’ve always felt like a big sister to her. I’m very protective of her, and she’s the sweetest person in the world.”

Pink previously expressed in 2021 her sentiment towards Britney Spears when she spoke to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live.” She stated she wished she had “reached out more” to Spears early in their careers. Pink sticks to the “Toxic” singers’ side after news about Britney’s divorce. Sam Asghari confirms the separation rumors Thursday on his Instagram. But despite the divorce filing, a source told People on Thursday that Spears is “in great spirits despite everything going on.” Read here for more about Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s divorce.
