Tory Lanez’s father pleads for mercy before the sentencing Judge.

At this time, Tory Lanez is awaiting sentencing for the shooting of hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

Megan alleged back in 2020, that Lanez, 31, shot a firearm at her after they left a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.

The rapper’s father made an emotional plea to the judge in Los Angeles today. He had wanted the court to understand his son.

What better way than appealing to the humanity in us. Sonstar Peterson told the court how Lanez lost his mother at age 11.

Peterson, a Christian minister, choked back tears as he talked about his wife, Luella, dying just a few days after showing the first symptoms of a rare blood disorder that would lead to her death.

Lanez’s father said, “I don’t think anybody ever gets over that.” “But his music became his outlet.”

Peterson had also expressed his apology for his behaviour when his son was found guilty.

Apparently, Peterson had lost his cool in the courtroom after the verdict was read.

“I want to personally apologize to you,” he told the judge. “It was an overwhelming time.”

Obviously, as a parent, he would have been understandably upset at losing his son.

Does Tory Lanez deserve leniency after his 2022 conviction?

Meanwhile, Star Iggy Azalea, wrote a statement defending Lanez’s character.

Azalea had asked, Herriford to hand down a sentence that was “transformative, not life-destroying.”

The judge said Lanez’s 6-year-old son, also wrote him a hand-written letter, but he did not describe it further.

After being found guilty in December 2022, US Weekly reported that the rapper faced up to 22 years in prison.

However, Prosecutors are asking that the rapper be given a 13-year sentence for the shooting.

The district attorney’s office also cited his “lack of remorse as a basis to deny probation.”

“She has permanent scarring, physically.” “And she certainly will have emotional scarring for the rest of her life.”

But has Lanez shown remorse for his actions? well, according to the Prison Chaplain he has.

Prison Chaplain, Miles McNerney, said “It’s a pretty amazing sight.”

Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott had this to say in court.

No matter what though, he did shoot at a vulnerable woman. Is a 13-year sentence too light?

Apparently, Lanez’s lawyers are saying yes. They are saying he should get probation and will appeal his conviction. Where is the justice here?

Is there an underlying problem of misogynoir as implied?

The backlash from the allegations made by Megan Pete caused a lot of online vitriol aimed toward the star.

However, fans pushed back in unity. #WeStandWithMegan circulated with vigour against the claims of misogynoir.

The fact remains that a weapon was used against Megan and there must be consequences.

One twitter user said, “I personally don’t care if Megan slept with the entire city of Houston.” “Why was she shot?”

Others have come to her defence as well by saying, “since when is she the one on trial?”

In any case, they do have a point. Why are people blaming the victim?

A person’s private life shouldn’t matter right? what baring does it have on the case in hand? Simple, it doesn’t.

Meanwhile, Tory Lanez’s sentencing will likely be postponed until Tuesday.
