Megan Thee Stallion came on TV for the first time to open up about being allegedly shot by fellow rapper Tory Lanez.

In an interview with Gayle King that aired Monday on CBS, the 27-year-old-rapper tells the detailed story of the incident. The Grammy winner wailingly explained the shooting that occurred in the summer of 2020 after a party. Kylie Jenner hosted the gathering in the Hollywood Hills.

Lizzo recalls the moment

“I feel like I have to hold it in because I have to be strong for so many people,” Stallion told King.” ” I know this happened to me, and I would rather it play out in court and the facts come out … than me having to plead my case,” she added.

Stallion continued further saying that she’s a victim, and she isn’t defending herself against anything.

According to the artist, an argument took place in the backseat of the car. The Houston rapper asked the driver to stop the car and let her out. However, the argument continued to escalate after Lizzo was persuaded to get back inside. And that is when Lanez shot her, she told King. Her friend from Houston, Kelsey Harris was also in the car with them.

“So I get out of the car and it’s like everything happens so fast. And all I hear is this man screaming. He said, ‘Dance, bitch.’ And he started shooting,” said Lizzo. And I’m just like, ‘Oh, my God,’” she said. “He shot a couple of times.

Lizzo added that she was so scared, she didn’t even want to move. The rapper didn’t want to move too quick.

“If I take the wrong step, I don’t know if he could shoot something that’s super important, I don’t know if he could shoot me and kill me,” said Lizzo.

A report from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center reviewed by the Los Angeles Times confirms that she underwent multiple procedures to remove major bullet fragments from both of her feet.

Lanez immediately began to apologize after Megan was hit, and begged her not to tell anyone about the shooting. In the moment, he allegedly offered her $1 million to stay quiet, she said.

What about Lanez?

“I’m like, ‘What are you talking about? Why are you offering me money right now?’” she said. “‘Help me! If you sorry, just help me!”

Stallion has faced criticism from supporters of Lanez. They said that she is lying because she initially told police that she stepped in broken glass. The rapper tearfully stressed that she sometimes wishes she could take back the statement. But at the same time, she had to protect everyone involved including Lanez.

“The George Floyd incident had just happened and police are very much ‘shoot first, ask questions after,'” she said. “I didn’t want (the police) to kill us. Even though this person just did this to me, my first reaction still was to try to save us. I didn’t want to see anybody die, so I said I just stepped on glass. So when I see people try to use that against me, to say I was lying … I was lying to protect all of us.”

In October 2020, Lanez pleaded not guilty after being charged for the shooting. He was also taken into custody recently for breaching Megan’s restraining order against him.

Another reason for him being taken into custody was a “discovery protective order.” Lanez did this by addressing Megan on social media. He also discussed the DNA evidence related to the case.

Lanez has been released on bail since then, and the case is set to go on trial on Sept. 14.
