Last February 24th, singer-songwriter sensation renforshort released her latest single “virtual reality” accompanied by its amazing video directed by Iris Kim which shows us a situation that doesn’t seem far from our daily lives.

The hypnotizing voice and deep lyrics combined with the amazing visuals give “virtual reality” the perfect touch to connect with its message. Even though it dives into different topics, its main significance goes around “anxiety, routine, boredom, isolation, loneliness, and fear”, according to the artist.

A song and video that shows our life as an always-the-same day to day, full of technology and strong attachment to it. Ren mentions that ever since she was young, social media has had an important role on her daily life. She wakes up, checks her phone and lets whatever she sees determine her mood for the rest of the day.

“I think a lot of people have a very unhealthy relationship with technology because it’s never really been restricted enough to consider mental health and overall health, and that has fucked so many people up, now more than ever”, added the 18-year-old.

The song was written by renforshort (Lauren Isenberg), Pom Pom (Kellen Pomeranz) and Jesse Fink, and produced by Pom Pom, who has worked with artists like John Legend, Noah Cyrus, Lelya Blue, and additional production from Pete Robertson.

Lauren is an 18-year-old artist from Toronto, singer and songwriter, creator of alt-pop popular songs full of profound and relatable meanings. Her quick popularity has been the result of all her hard work in a short period of time.

With independent singles through 2019, her first EP “teenage angst” in 2020, her single “afterthoughts” featured on Disney+ Soundtrack for the movie “Clouds”, and some features with artists like Mateus Asato, Curtis Waters and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, who remixed “I drive me mad” off her EP, renforshort is preparing her highly anticipated Sophomore EP for later this year.

The young artist has been highly praised by the world’s top media like MTV, Rolling Stones, NME, American Songwriter, Time, V Magazine, Billboard, Paper, Interview Magazine and more. Go watch and listen to “virtual reality” here!
