During the Pride event being held on Saturday at the White House on the South Lawn, Montoya joined the celebration by going topless with friends. Following the incident, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed what happened by stating, “The behavior was simply unacceptable. It was unfair to the hundreds of attendees who were there to celebrate their families.”
Monotya recorded a social media video featuring herself and two others going topless for the celebrations. This TikTok video posted by user @shawdogg details why Montoya is receiving backlash for going topless at the event.

According to the TikTok video, Montoya’s intention was not to be vulgar but to live her truth and express herself. Montoya defended her actions by stating the following: “going topless in Washington, DC is legal and I fully support the movement in freeing the nipple.”
Criticism also supposedly extended to the White House for allowing this behavior on the grounds.
