Ruby Franke Officially Charged

Last week, mom influencer Ruby Franke was arrested in her home of Ivins, Utah after one of her children escaped, malnourished, to a neighbor’s house asking for help. Today, she, along with her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, were officially charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse and denied bail.

If convicted, Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt face up to fifteen years in prison and a fine of up to ten-thousand dollars.

Those familiar with Franke and her content are delighted by this news, as there had been serious concern for the well-being of her six children based on what was shown on her former Youtube channel ‘8 Passengers’.

The video below shows just a fraction of what went on in the Franke household; Take a look:

Now that law enforcement has become involved, those closest to the family feel more comfortable speaking about the situation. Apparently their neighbors always kept an eye on the family saying they noticed “minor red flags” this past year that led to several of them reporting Ruby Franke to Child Protective Services (CPS), and yet “nothing happened.” But still, her neighbors were surprised by her arrest; one spoke out on their behalf, saying “it was definitely shocking”. Though they suspected something was up, they “don’t think anybody knew,” her children “were being physically abused to that degree.”

Their suspicions grew significantly once Franke’s two youngest children, ten year old Eve and twelve year old Russell, became absent from their neighborhood. The neighbor said “she really started isolating her kids”, which included leaving her two teenage daughters at home, alone, for weeks.

Franke’s sisters also released their own statement in a Youtube video which has since been deleted. It read: “It would feel very out of place for me to continue to post my regular content after the arrest of my sister. It feels like a weight has been lifted as we now know our nieces and nephews are safe.”

As of right now the children are still in the custody of Child Protective Services.
