Bobby Lee decides to get sober on Sex in the City spin-off And Just Like That…

In the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson podcast, Bobby Lee shares a life-changing event that could have ended his career but also helped him to decide to go to rehab and get sober. Lee recalls a scene he filmed with Sarah Jade Parker on the show And Just Like That… that pushed him to sobriety.

The Tiger Belly Podcast host played Jackie Nee on the Sex and the City spin-off show And Just Like That… He tells Bilson that while he was in Hawaii, Bobby’s agent called him to inform him of a sudden film schedule change. But at the time he was “blackout drunk.” Bobby recalled his agent saying, “They need you in New York.”

“This is one of the reasons why I’m sober … On the plane, I thought, ‘I’m just gonna get s–t faced,’ so I was in a blackout when we landed in New York.” Lee began to panic when he arrived to the airport as he didn’t realize till then that he will be going straight to the set instead of his hotel. Lee remembered that his “face just became drenched with sweat.” “I remember going there, being so high and drunk, and when I was reading the script, I couldn’t even understand what the f**k it was even saying. And it was the most difficult scene, too. I had to cross a street with [Parker] and it’s in the middle of New York.”

“I couldn’t even say the f—ing first line. It was a nightmare. I remember saying to myself, ‘This is never going to happen again.’ I had to get sober. This is insane.”
