In a recent interview with People, Dacus confirmed that she is the ”Lucy” Swift refers to in the bridge. According to the indie singer, Swift messaged her for approval before name-dropping her in the song.
βI pushed play on the album just like, βOh, this is so crazy,” Dacus told People. βThis is the first Taylor record to come out since meeting her, and listening to a friendβs record feels so much different than a strangerβs record,β she continued.
