‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Will Release April 13th
February 20, 2025 – HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ will return with a brand new season on April 13th and will follow the events of the sequel to the video game franchise.
‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 finally has a release date! The sequel season to the viral HBO series is set to release on April 13th.
Season 1 of the show covered the first installment in PlayStation’s hit video game franchise, and season 2 will cover the sequel game “The Last of Us: Part II.” Instead of starting where the first season left off, season 2 will continue after a five-year time skip. Here, we’ll see an even more jaded and grizzled Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) face off against the zombie-like, fungus-infected humans.

Be Ready For “high-calorie, dense episodes”
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are the writers and directors for HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’, and they also co-created the video game series. Having them on board for season 2 will ensure the series’ quality and faithfulness to the essence of the source material.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Druckmann talks about making the video game: “We’d be talking about Game 2, and in fact there’s a lot of changes — sometimes small adjustments, sometimes bigger — that we’re making in anticipation of adapting Game 2.” He added, “We keep asking, ‘What’s the best choice for this story, for these characters?’ And that’s the choice we make.”
About the new HBO season, he says: “We have seven episodes. They are high-calorie, dense episodes. If you consider action and drama and scope to be the things that create an epic nature, each one of these episodes packs quite a wallop. You will not be bored.”
Season 2’s new cast members include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Danny Ramirez as Manny.
