Breaking news stories are stating that a submersible used to take tourists to see the wreckage of the Titanic has gone missing.

Accoridng to this article, a search and rescue mission is underway to locate a missing submersible carrying crew, that is part of expeditions to see the wreck of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. As noted in the article, government agencies and deep sea firms are assisting with the search and rescue mission that is currently underway.

It has not been confirmed when contact with the crew onboard was lost but the organization is working tirelessly to locate its missing crew and submarine.

As mentioned in the article, tour organization, OceanGate, runs $250,000-a-seat expeditions to see the Titanic underwater via submersibles, an entire trip that takes approximately 8 hours to complete from start to finish. Allegedly, OceanGate’s Titan submersible can hold up to 5 people and conducts dives with a four-day supply of oxygen. According to the company, the submersible typically houses a pilot, three guests, and a “content expert”.

In regards to this missing submarine, it is believed only crew were onboard. OceanGate released a statement that stated the following, “Our entire focus is on the crewmembers in the submersible and their families.”
