A Utah woman who became the subject of viral outrage after allegedly pulling down a teenager’s skirt in a St. George restaurant has reached a legal resolution.

Ida Ann Lorenzo, 49, of Santa Clara, pleaded no contest to a Class B misdemeanor charge of sexual battery in a plea in abeyance agreement finalized on July 30, 2024. Under the terms of the agreement, the charge will be dismissed if she complies with conditions, including no contact with the victim, undergoing a mental health evaluation, and refraining from further legal violations over the next year (here).

The incident occurred on April 20, 2024, at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in St. George, when Lorenzo allegedly approached a 19-year-old woman and tugged down her miniskirt, claiming it was too revealing.

The confrontation was captured on video and shared on social media, where it quickly went viral, garnering millions of views and widespread condemnation (here). In the footage, Lorenzo is heard identifying herself as a state employee and threatening to contact Child Protective Services.
Following the incident, Lorenzo was terminated from her position as a legal secretary with the Utah Attorney General’s Office, effective April 25, 2024 . She later initiated a GoFundMe campaign seeking financial assistance, citing personal hardships and the impact of the incident on her family.
