Kim Kardashian has long been a fan of Dolce & Gabbana, and this passion was evident in her inclusion of their most recent collection, which drew inspiration from vintage outfits from 1987 to 2007.

In collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, Kim Kardashian brought her design skills to Milan Fashion Week this season for the house’s spring/summer 2023 runway presentation.

Models strutted down the runway wearing a mix of updated vintage outfits assembled by Kardashian, 41, as a black-and-white video of the Skims creator eating spaghetti and the sound of paparazzi cameras clicking played in the backdrop.

Models wore choker necklaces that had the word “KIM” spelled out in capital letters, and the colour scheme was primarily black, metallic, and leopard print.

Each look in the collection was inspired by the past yet reimagined for today. A visible white rectangular tailor label attached to each clothing indicated the year of origin. The brand’s more contemporary signatures, like as big floral designs and bright colours, were absent.

As Kardashian described it backstage, the only colour used was crystal, which was embroidered on mostly all-black, lingerie-inspired pieces. The designers apparently persuaded her to incorporate leopard print, and that was the only reason it was featured.

At the conclusion of the Show, the reality star herself made a cameo appearance to take a bow while wearing a shimmering black gown.

“I always loved the beautiful, quintessential 90s & 2000’s looks… feminine, bold, they always made me feel so confident & glamorous. You could feel the moment you put on a D & G dress that the intention when it was designed & made was to celebrate the woman wearing it. To make her feel like she could do anything, be anything, own her confidence & her beauty” Kardashian penned in a lengthy Instagram post following the show.

She also shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the curation process while instructing the models in a dramatic all-leopard catsuit and gloves. She added, the collection was composed of “the most iconic #DolceGabbana pieces from 1987 to 2007, mixed together through spontaneous reinterpretation creating a perfect collection,” adding, “Every piece is not just an item, it’s a unique memory.”

In addition, the mother of four served as a role model for her own family. Her daughters North, 9, and Chicago, 4, not only sat front row with Khloé Kardashian and Kris Jenner for the presentation, but they also donned miniature copies of past Dolce & Gabbana looks that their mother had worn.

Kardashian has been passionate to the brand since she was a teenager. When she was a child, she shared her home with a black lab named Gabbana and a little Chihuahua named Dolce. The extent of her “amore per Dolce” was extensively recorded on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and is currently being shared on her Instagram.

Even Dolce & Gabbana’s L’Ulivetta house in Portofino hosted her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding earlier this year. All of Kim’s sisters wore outfits from her own D&G collection for the celebrations, which she has been accumulating ever since she and her stylist created a book of more than 100 wishlist items years ago.
