January 10, 2025– According to this KTLA article, a man was arrested this past Thursday evening in Woodland Hills on suspicion of arson near the Kenneth Fire. This fire was burning in Calabasas and West Hills.

Los Angeles police responded to reports of the suspect attempting to start a fire on Ybarra Road, where neighbors detained him until officers arrived.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect is connected to the current wildfire, but the incident is being investigated as potential arson as fire crews continue battling the Kenneth Fire, which has since grown to 1,000 acres with 35% containment.


The identity of the alleged arsonist has not yet been shared.

X has blown up with tweets related to the alleged arsonist who was caught and apprehended. This other tweet (@texasbrn) alleged that the male supposedly had 5 cell phones and a United Nations prepaid debit card on him when arrested. This remains unconfirmed.

Another post on X here (@edkonx) allegedly shows video surveillance footage of when the suspect was placed under citizen’s arrest. In the viral clip, people can be heard saying “Be careful, people are starting fires in Los Angeles.”

As of right now, it remains unclear if the devastating fires that hit LA this past week have been intentional. However, the latest news involving an alleged arsonist has caused widespread speculation and multiple theories to run rampant online.

The fires began this past Tuesday, and at least 10 people have been killed and thousands of structures have been destroyed as the wildfires fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds raged through Los Angeles. The fires caused around 130,000 people to evacuate, as mentioned here on AP News.

As the article further mentions, the fires, including the Palisades, Eaton, and Sunset Fires, have caused widespread devastation, with more than 450,000 people without power and damages estimated between $135 billion and $150 billion.
