Dakota Johnson may be known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise but over the last few years, she has been making her mark on the film world with some iconic roles including 2 new films at Sundance.

Sundance is known to be one of the best and most prestigious film festivals around, and unfortunately this year it was held completely virtually, meaning no standing ovations, no red carpets, and only some interviews.

Only a month into 2022 Dakota Johnson herself has made one of the biggest splashes in the film industry, with 4 films coming out this year and 3 already being reviewed. This year Dakota stars in 2 films premiering a Sundance, Cha Cha Real Smooth directed by young gun Cooper Raiff, and Am I Ok? directed by comedian Tig Notaro. Dakota is also a producer on both films, with her production company Tea Time Pictures.

The cast and crew of Sundance had to use breakout rooms for film interviews

Each year because Sundance is the first festival of the year it usually has the most attraction for who will pick up the best films, at this year’s festival Cha Cha Real Smooth was the biggest purchase by Apple for $15 million.

Not only was Cha Cha a hit at the festival but so was her second debut film Am I Ok? which has gotten picked up by HBO for an unknown amount. This is a very strong start to not only the year, but for Dakota as a producer, and from the reviews, it looks like these two films are the best work Dakota has done and hopefully will get her the recognition she deserves.
