‘1923’ Season 2 – First Impressions and Reviews
The ‘Yellowstone’ prequel, ‘1923’, finally has its season 2 and critics are loving it. After just the first episode, it has received a 100% score on RottenTomatoes.
After a tense wait, Taylor Sheridan’s ‘1923’ Season 2 has finally arrived in full winter glam and privation. Following this generation of the Dutton family, the ‘Yellowstone’ prequel series is imbued with the time’s hardships, including early influences of the Great Depression, drought, and Prohibition. Season 2 brings even more challenges to the Dutton family’s dinner table.
The first episode starts where season 1 ended, with a harsh winter on the horizon, Spencer and Alexandra’s separation, and a chilling debt looming over the Duttons’ shoulders. These events set the scene for a high-stakes progression of the Dutton family’s legacy.
The Critics Are Ecstatic
The Paramount+ series has already received much love from critics, despite only the first episode having aired. After a few reviews, season 2 of ‘1923’ has received a perfect 100% score on RottenTomatoes. Top critics have reviewed the series with praise.
A critic from the Daily Telegraph gave the show a 4/5 rating, stating “This series is never dull.”
A ScreenRant critic wrote, “1923 season 2 continues the hard-hitting stories set up by season 1, with the Dutton family facing new challenges as Spencer must meet his destiny.”
‘1923’ Season 2 Doesn’t Hold Back – For Better or Worse

And it is true, ‘1923’ does not shy away from creating graphic, heart-wrenching moments—shocking the viewer with the reality of the series time and setting. Though not for the faint of heart, Sheridan has created a story that we simply can’t stop watching.
