For its newest women’s tennis collection, Fila has tapped Brandon Maxwell to serve as its guest designer. This is the designer’s first debut in the tennis apparel market.
Fila by Brandon Maxwell, released just in time for the US Open, pays homage to the former brand’s Italian heritage while fusing its athletic designs with Maxwell’s signature American aesthetic.
The 21-piece collection, which launched on August 29 includes both essentials and pieces that can be worn both on and off the court, including a tracksuit, a cami dress, a pleated racer back dress, three different types of skorts, and two racerback tank tops.
A pink organza coat with a detachable skirt is a special highlight. It has a two-way separating zipper and a zip-off bottom that enable the consumer to choose between a cropped and long style.
The outfits made their debut at the final Grand Slam tennis tournament in New York, where Karolina Pliskova and Shelby Rogers, two players sponsored by Fila, both wore items from the collection while competing.
In a statement, Maxwell, who is also the creative director of his own brand, Brandon Maxwell, said it had been an honour to collaborate on the Fila tennis collection.
The designer added, “Not only is tennis one of my favourite sports but I’ve always loved seeing what the athletes wear on the court. Creating this collection allowed me to infuse that fashion perspective into these very classic silhouettes.”
Shoppers may presently find FILA by Brandon Maxwell on FILA.com, BrandonMaxwellOnline.com, and Bandier.com.
