As the Bridget Jones 4 movie is expected to be based on, ‘Mad About The Boy’, Colin Firth will not be returning as Marc Darcy. While the last three movies saw Bridget’s on and off relationship with Marc Darcy, she eventually got her happy ending with him in the third Bridget Jones movie, aptly titled ‘Bridget Jones’s  Baby’. Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched it yet.

In the film, Bridget and Marc are no longer together but after one fateful night she ends up getting pregnant. And while at first she doesn’t know who the babies father is, her and Marc end up rekindling their relationship, having a baby boy and getting married. Author Helen Fielding decided to write ‘Mad About The Boy’, without Marc Darcy because she didn’t think it would be true to Bridget’s character if she was a ‘smug married’ woman.
