Charli XCX to star in and produce A24’s latest project, The Moment, based on her original idea.

January 25, 2025 – According to Variety, Charli announced this project mere hours after leading the Brit Awards nominations. Specifically, Charli has been nominated for several categories, which include Albums of the Year and Song of the Year. In fact, her newest album Brat has left a significant impact since its release last year, influencing politics, fashion, and pop culture (here). However, the award-winning musical artist now wishes to venture into new creative territory in the screen industry.

As outlined in Hypebeast, The Moment is based on Charli’s original idea and she will produce the film through her production company Studio365. David Hinojosa will also act as producer. Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri will make his directorial debut, while A.G. Cook is composing the music. Moreover, Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright, and Zach Nutman will be executive producers. In addition, sources say that Charli will also be starring in the film (here). However, plot details have yet to be revealed (here).

The film has gained significant attention since its announcement because of its promising creative team and Charli’s unique creative vision (here). However, this is not Charli’s first venture into the film industry. The hit-making star is also in Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces of Death, and Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero (here). In an interview with Variety, Charli spoke about her ventures into this new craft and how she wishes to handle it.

“I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” she said. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”
