We heard the amazing news that Disney has already begun production plans for a sequel to Cruella, but in more amazing news – Oscar-winning Emma Stone has signed on to star in the Cruella sequel.

Disney+ has been a hot topic in the entertainment world for the last few weeks. It all began at the end of July when Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney+ for a breach of contract. Disney+ had released Black Widow in theatres and on their streaming platform, even though it was stated in Johansson’s contract that Black Widow would be exclusively released in theatres. A large portion of Johansson’s salary would come from the box-office sales for the film, it has been estimated that she lost 50 million USD. Black Widow and Cruella were originally set to be box-office exclusive but due to the pandemic, they came up with a hybrid release of the films.

Following Johansson’s suit rumours began to stir that Cruella star Emma Stone would also be suing for similar allegations. Due to the pandemic, at the end of May 2021, Cruella was released in theatres and on the Disney+ streaming service. You had the option of paying an additional $29.99 to receive premiere access to the film on your Disney+ account. While Stone’s performance and the film itself received rave reviews the box-office numbers were much lower than usual and many people believe this stems from the hybrid release. There have been rumblings that Stone is considering a lawsuit now. Stone is weighing all her options and trying to decide the best course of action.
