The former president is now officially under arrest inside the Manhattan courtroom.

Earlier today, Donald Trump became the first US former president to be arrested on criminal charges. According to BBC, he left the Trump Tower and went to the courtroom around 1 pm (18.00 BST). As he was heading to the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, he updated his social media with a post about the arrest. “Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL — WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America.” he wrote on Truth Social.

Donald Trump Arrest

According to CNN, Trump will potentially be fingerprinted during his arrest, but it is still unknown if he has had his mugshots taken. On Monday evening, a judge declined the media request to be present and broadcast the arraignment in real time. However, photographs will be allowed to take photos “before the hearing begins“.

The former president is facing criminal charges for a hush payment case back in 2016. Trump has allegedly had an affair (that he has been denying ever since) with the adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Along with the 2016 case, Trump was charged for other 34 criminal charges. He has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all of them, according to this article.
