Celebrity Skin Finishing Expert Sophie Evans sat down with HOLR to discuss her top tips and tricks when it comes to self-tanning! Plus, she shares her must-haves from the brand and why St. Tropez is her go-to!

What do you love most about St. Tropez tanning products?

Essentially, it’s the colour you get! When it comes to St. Tropez, they’re the masters of creating the perfect colour for you. My colour will be different than yours, but it’s just right for the individual. It’s never orange, never too artificial- it always looks super natural. I just love the brand, it has the most forgiving products that are fool-proof.

Talk to us about some of your go-to products from the brand’s lineup.

I will always go back to the St. Tropez Bronzing Lotions, which give you the most natural and long-lasting finishes. If I’ve got time I use the original Bronzing Lotion. I also love our Extra Dark formula. At the moment I’m wearing the Express Mousse and I’m absolutely loving it. Honestly, all of them are quite good!

How is St. Tropez different than other tanning brands or products you’ve tried?

We’ve got lots of skincare benefits to it. There are loads of unique ingredients in our products that are beneficial for the skin. The scent is also really nice and the products fade off nicely, as well, which is helpful. Our Watermelon Gradual Tan has a wonderful Watermelon scent and is super hydrating. I recommend using a self-tanner once a week and then using a gradual tan 2-3 days later to really boost the overall colour.

How can we ensure the perfect self-tan application every time?

Depending on what product you’re using it’s really important to moisturize your elbows, knees, hands, and feet. Always use enough product so you can glide the tan on and you’re not pulling on the skin. I use two pumps per limb and smooth the product onto my skin, doing a light layer on the hands and feet. Remember, over-rubbing and lack of product will result in streaks. I also recommend using a pack of wipes to wipe your palms.

What are your top tips for maintaining a gorgeous glow all year round?

In the summer, I like to use the Extra Dark products to maintain a deeper glow. In the wintertime, I go back to the classics. Remember, it’s important to moisturize and hydrate your skin every day. Also, lightly exfoliate your skin every few days. My top tip is that it’s good to detox your skin once a month. St. Tropez has a fabulous tan-removing mousse that makes your skin really hydrated. It’s lovely! You get the best tanning experience when you put the tanning products on after it.
