What’s Going on With Hayden Panettiere?
On Sept. 19th, PEOPLE released their September cover with Panettiere as the cover story, and a short clip of the interview was posted on Instagram and Tik Tok.

The emotional interview clip shows Panettiere speaking about her late brother, who passed away unexpectedly in 2023 from heart complications.
“Losing my little brother, there’s nothing like, I mean he’s my only sibling and he is my younger sibling, and it was my job to protect him,” Panettiere said to PEOPLE.
“When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul. I remember saying to somebody, and it hadn’t even been a year, and I was like ‘Don’t ever expect me to get over the loss of him because no matter how many years ago by, it will always be beside me,” Panettiere continued.
“I will always be heartbroken about it. I will never be able to get over it,” Panettiere said.
Hayden Panettiere Fans Raise Concern
Fans began to raise their concern after noticing that Panettiere’s speech was “slow” and “slurred.”
One Tik Tok user commented, “People magazine should be ashamed.”
Another user commented, “She lost custody of her daughter, lost her brother… battles with addiction. God bless her. I hope she can find some peace and good health.”
The Tik Tok clip of the interview has amassed over 3.9 million views.
Hayden Panettiere’s Representative Statement
Amidst the substance abuse rumours, Panettiere’s representative provided Page Six with a statement.
“Speaking about her brother for the first time was very emotional for her – and it had been a long and exhausting day for her. She was not under the influence,” Panettiere’s rep told Page Six.
Hayden Panettiere Brother’s Death
Back in 2023, Panettiere took to Instagram to share a photo of her herself and her brother when they were children.
