Sandals Resorts are known for exceeding all-inclusive expectations, and the Sandals Emerald Bay Golf, Tennis & Spa Resort in The Exumas is no exception.  Located on the coastline of one of the Bahamas’ out islands, Sandals Emerald Bay is a luxurious oceanfront resort, offering relaxation and exotic adventure.

Thanks to Sandals, I had the pleasure of experiencing the tropical paradise that is the Bahamian islands, leaving all worries that encompass daily life behind.

The resort itself is a short ten-minute drive from Exuma’s International Airport. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the hotel staff and provided my itinerary for the next six days — a perfect mixture of relaxation, adventure, and personal time.

After my day of travel, I was excited to finally see where I would be calling home for the next five nights. The Beachfront Honeymoon Walkout Butler Villa Suite was sure to provide complete bliss for the duration of my stay. However, no matter which accommodation you choose, you will be located directly on the beach or just a short walk away.

The suite itself is tastefully decorated and complemented by a beautiful bathroom with his and hers sinks (or mine and mine as I experienced this trip solo), a walk-in shower and a soaker tub. The room also features sliding glass doors that lead guests to a fully furnished private terrace, as well as a gorgeous view of Bahamas’ signature turquoise waters and white sand.

The resort also offers eleven on-site restaurants, where guests have the opportunity to choose between buffets and a la carte menus from a variety of cuisines such as; Italian, Japanese, Indian and French food. Guests may also indulge in a barefoot dining experience on the beach and authentic jerk barbeque by the pool. The French restaurant, La Parisienne took the cake for me!

Sandals’ also ensured that my trip consisted of some off-resort adventure and exploration. I highly recommend trying the Exuma Swimming Pigs Adventure, where I had the opportunity to tour around Pig Island (note that feeding a bunch of hungry piggies comes with a price, poop!), the Iguana Cay, experience the Sandbar, snorkel over a black hole and overlook stunning private islands owned by a vast array of celebrities.

In addition to the numerous excursions offered at the resort, the more active guest could choose to enjoy spending a morning on the resorts famous 18-hole Golf Course, designed by professional golfer Greg Norman. The course presents a challenging experience and is known for providing stunning views, as it is located directly on the ocean.

To ensure you are incorporating some relaxation and rejuvenation into your stay,  visit the Red Lane Spa. Here, you can indulge in a variety of Carribean-inspired treatments. I got to experience both the Passionfruit Agave Massage and the Flawless Facial Treatment. Both of which left me feeling completely refreshed for the rest of my stay. The facility also includes plunge pools, a steam room, fitness center, beauty salon, and a yoga-pilates studio to accommodate all of your needs.

As the colder months approach and we all begin looking for our next getaway, I highly recommend experiencing the luxury that is Sandals Emerald Bay.
