“My career dried up man. I came out with a giant bang – my first single was the song ‘Cooler Than Me,’” Posner told Wall.

“I thought that’s just what happens when I put out singles you know, they’re all f**king huge,” Posner said.

“The second single was ‘Please Don’t Go,’ and it sold millions of copies, but actually the experience was ‘Please Don’t Go’ was a failure because it wasn’t as big as ‘Cooler Than Me,’” Posner continued.Mike Posner Reveals Record Label Drama

“It was like a failure to the label, to everyone. After that was ‘Bow Chicka Wow Wow,’ the sales of that song were the same story, also a platinum song with Lil Wayne, but not as big as ‘Please Don’t Go,’” Posner said.

“Like I have platinum plaques of those songs on my wall, but they felt like failures at the time,” Posner continued.

“My understanding is the record label was just sort of looking at the line going down, but now it’s time for Mike Posner to make a new album,” Posner said.

“Now I’m working with great producers, including Pharrell, J. Cole, 2 Chainz, and I work with Justin Bieber, Big Sean and Benny Blanco. All great people, but they all cost a lot of money,” Posner said.Mike Posner Reveals Record Label Drama

“Now it’s time to put the album out and the label’s got to pay all these people, but they weren’t sure that if they spent all that money, the music would make that much money back,” Posner continued.

“The decision was ‘Let Mike keep making music but were just going to keep him over here and not release his music.’ There’s one word for this in the music industry, and it’s called getting shelved,” Posner said.

“I had all these songs that were on this un-releasable album, but the songs were releasable if I didn’t sing them,” Posner continued.
