On Sunday night, the Pose actress made history as the first trans woman to win a golden globe.
Some may be wondering where the red carpet pictures and ceremony memes are?
After last year’s award show the Hollywood Foreign Press Association garnered backlash for its ethical and racial issues. This prompted the association to announce an overhaul of its memberships as they seek to diversify. It also prompted NBC to drop them leaving the association without TV coverage. But, the association refused to cancel and instead held the event on Twitter.
However unusual the Golden Globes were this year a very special moment came out of it for actress Michaela Jaé Rodriguez.

MJ Rodriguez took to Instagram to reflect on her win and the positive impact it will have on marginalized communities.
“This is the door that is going to open the door for many more young talented individuals,” Rodriguez wrote. “They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would WITH LOVE. LOVE WINS. To my young LGBTQAI babies WE ARE HERE the door is now open now reach the stars.”

Rodriguez stood out in this hot pink Jason Wu gown on the 2019 Emmy red carpet.
She told E!, “I wanted people to see me. And I wanted to feel like this is the first moment that I’ve ever had been taken seriously. That’s what this dress does for me.”

The actress also wore Thom Brown to the 2021 Met Gala proving that even Victorian garments can be edged up.
“I call it this beautiful oil spill, slash edgy Victorian look,” she said to In Style. “It doesn’t hold to a specific narrative of how Americans or fashion, in general, are supposed to be — it can be anything you want it to be because America’s literally a melting [pot].”
