On Sunday night, the Pose actress made history as the first trans woman to win a golden globe.

Some may be wondering where the red carpet pictures and ceremony memes are?

After last year’s award show the Hollywood Foreign Press Association garnered backlash for its ethical and racial issues. This prompted the association to announce an overhaul of its memberships as they seek to diversify. It also prompted NBC to drop them leaving the association without TV coverage. But, the association refused to cancel and instead held the event on Twitter.

However unusual the Golden Globes were this year a very special moment came out of it for actress Michaela Jaé Rodriguez.

“I call it this beautiful oil spill, slash edgy Victorian look,” she said to In Style. “It doesn’t hold to a specific narrative of how Americans or fashion, in general, are supposed to be — it can be anything you want it to be because America’s literally a melting [pot].”
