Sources report that Netflix is adapting Jane Austins’ famous novel Pride and Prejudice into a TV series. However, the series is still in its early stages of production.

Pride and Prejudice Netflix

November 19th, 2024-As outlined in Harpers Bazaar, Pride and Prejudice has been adapted before. Notably, Joe Wright’s film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen comes to mind. In addition, this is not Netflix’s first attempt at adapting a regency-era romance. They released an adaptation of Persuasion in 2022 and have recently been successful with another Regency romance titled Bridgerton. Moreover, this news came when the BBC announced their Pride and Prejudice spinoff titled The Other Bennett Sister.

Therefore, this series is coming at a time when regency-era romances are all the rage, but what will make this series different?

Dolly Alderton

Deadline reports that novelist, journalist, podcast host, and screenwriter Dolly Alderton will adapt the novel into a script. Alderton has adapted her memoir Everything I Know About Love into a BBC romantic comedy series. In addition, Alderton has written the best-selling novels Ghosts and Good Material. Alderton’s body of work often deals with the theme of relationships and romance, which has made fans excited about what she will bring to the table.

Pride and Prejudice cast

The adaptation is in its early stages of production. There is no official cast yet; however, according to Harpers Bazaar reports have stated that Normal People star Daisy Edgar Jones has been tipped to star in the series.

However, Jones’s team says no official decision has been made.

The Netflix team has yet to make any more statements about the series.
