FEMME is Dans un Jardin’s newest collection inspired by the everyday beauty found within the gardens and botanicals that you love. In order to get the inside scoop behind the brand’s vision of FEMME, HOLR is chatting with art and marketing director of Dans un Jardin, Paule Lafrance, to discuss the latest launch and must-have products from the line!
Tell us all about Dans un Jardin and what consumers can expect when shopping for the brand.
Dans un Jardin is a family brand, I have the pleasure to work with my dad (the president) every day. Understanding the importance of family has allowed us to cater to the needs and demands of all members: babies, kids, men, women, and home products. We manufacture all of our products locally at our own factory. When people shop at Dans un Jardin, they can expect carefully conceptualized quality products at affordable prices. Quality has always been very important to us and the ingredients we select ourselves are thought through. We make sure that our products are made using naturally sourced ingredients and we are constantly upgrading our formulas to offer what is best to our clients. You can expect to travel to a universe of fragrances and experience the power of nostalgia through scents but you can also expect products that will compliment your wellness routines. Product lines like “Goodnight” & “Kälm”, were designed to meet the daily needs of people through aromathérapy as an alternative to supplements, crafted for insomniacs like me. This is what you can expect at Dans un Jardin, products that will bring ease to your mind and bring joy to your senses.

As we manufacture all of our products ourselves and work very closely with our chemist, we have the privilege of being in total control of our products. All products are tested on me and my team members who are open to participating in the process. We would never offer something that we wouldn’t use ourselves. Our products are made of naturally sourced ingredients and we aim for them to be as natural as possible. For instance, our body creams are now 99.3% of naturally sourced ingrédients, the 0.7% mainly being because they are scented. It is incredibly important for us to be as natural as possible in every aspect of the brand. Being a fan of artisanal herbalism has influenced me greatly in pushing our formulas to be as natural as possible. When a product is over 95% I am happy. Transparency is also at the forefront of our values, which is why we always share real numbers instead of all-natural or 100% when most of the time, it’s not.
The brand recently launched FEMME, inspired by the everyday beauty found within the gardens and botanicals that you love. What can you tell us about this new collection?
Our new collection was inspired by the history of Dans un Jardin but with a touch of fresh air. The nostalgia that the brand holds inspires me in my creations but I am also young, so bringing a touch of freshness to the brand is fun for me. I want to add a part of myself to what I do and create. Also, Women inspire me a lot. We are very powerful beings who deserve to shine and so there’s also an homage to women in what I do. It’s important to create space for us and FEMME is about just that. Our packaging for this collection was inspired by products from the 90s, featuring the freshness of soft colors found in our gardens. On the topic of nostalgia and a breath of fresh air, we have six signature scents & six new ones in this collection, it is well balanced between evoking past memories and inspiring new beginnings. In addition to new branding, we have also improved our body cream formula from 94% to 99.3% naturally sourced ingredients. I’d also like to mention that many men buy our FEMME products for themselves and I am super happy about that.
What are some of your must-have pieces from the latest launch?
It is so hard to decide because there is something for everyone, we all have different tastes and smell preferences which is what makes everyone so unique. One product we are really routing for is our Eau de toilette Hibiscus which seems to already be very popular. Summer scents like Palm beach & Tahitian Monoï bubble baths are must-haves for self-care nights because they are so relaxing. Another one we love is the Lotus body cream enriched with wheat germ and chia oils, ceramides, essential fatty acids, and phytosterols which help repair the skin’s moisture barrier to protect the skin from environmental aggressors that dry out the skin, such as wind, cold, pollutants, surfactants. It is very hydrating and leaves skin feeling super soft.
We heard that all of the FEMME products are made with local botanical ingredients- tell us more about the benefits of this conscious step.
We actually developed The Bota Biome Complex which is created from the synergy of these different plants (Canadian goldenseal, elderberry, goldenrod). They have been selected for their proven skin benefits. This complex respects the epidermis while maintaining the balance of the skin microbiome and is part of all of our women’s body products (body cream, bubble bath, shower gel). We wanted to incorporate local plants in what we do and wanted to develop them in a way that is actually beneficial. We are extremely proud of The Bota Biome Complexe and try to add it to as many formulas as we can.
What’s next for Dans un Jardin as a brand?
There are plenty of projects on the way! From home products to well-being products, there is just so much we are working towards and looking forward to. One thing you can always expect is new home ambiance products. What I can say without spilling any secrets is that we have a lot of collections in the wellness, body & mind realm in 2023! Some of these projects are ones that we have been working on for more than two years that still haven’t made it in-store, so we are very excited. Everything is carefully conceptualized and fabricated, so it can be a long process of testing, designing, and adjusting, but in the end, it is all worth it!
