Rapper Sexyy Red Sued for Allegedly Inciting Violence Against Child’s Grandmother

March 26, 2025: Rapper Sexyy Red, born Janae Wherry, is facing a lawsuit filed by Nicole Barnes, the grandmother of one of her children, alleging that Wherry incited her social media followers to commit acts of violence against Barnes.

Allegations Detailed in the Lawsuit

According to the lawsuit, in December 2024, Wherry allegedly posted Barnes’ home address and a photograph of her residence on Facebook, urging her followers to “kick in the door” and “conduct acts of violence” against Barnes. Barnes claims that as a result of this post, she and her family were compelled to relocate for their safety. She also asserts that she now lives in constant fear and has sought therapy for emotional distress. Barnes is seeking $5 million in damages.

Legal Proceedings and Responses

Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, stated that attempts to resolve the matter informally were dismissed by Wherry’s legal team. Weaver emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, indicating that initial efforts to address the issue amicably were not taken seriously by Wherry’s representatives.
