Do you remember the iconic 2004 comedy White Chicks? We all thought at the time and ever since, were these two girls inspired by real-life people? Or they were just a creation from the film producers? Well, we finally got to know the truth.
White Chicks is a 2004 American comedy film that made its way as one of the most iconic comedy movies of the 2000s. The film was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans stared by Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, and co-written and co-produced by the 3 brothers (and a few others).
If you haven’t seen it, you’ve missed a good laugh. The movie follows two FBI agents who go undercover to solve a kidnapping plot using whiteface as two blond and rich girls. While solving the case, they get involved in different situations while having to pretend to be them in their usual lives.
Recently, Marlon Wayans shared on Instagram a picture with Paris Hilton and explained how the film came to be. He said that his co-star and brother Shawn and himself were inspired in 2004 by seeing on the cover of a magazine the socialites and reality TV stars Paris and Nicky Hilton.
“Funny story one day my brother [Shawn] calls me at 3 a.m. saying ‘Marlon we should play white chicks,'” Wayans explained on his Instagram post. To which Marlon replied with a “You high?”.
Next thing Shawn showed him the picture of the Hilton sisters and they got their muses. “I immediately got it. They were so big and were the gateway to pop culture send-up,” Wayans wrote. “So, thank you Paris and [Nicky] for being muses. When we do #whitechicks2 ‘let’s go shopping”, he added.
And of course, both sisters were amused by this revelation and replied to Marlon’s post. “Great seeing you last night. That movie was hilarious AF. Love you too bro and yes let us know”, Paris commented on the post. Nicky added in another comment “Happy we could be a source of inspiration! White Chicks 2?”.
These comments have taken fans on big excitement and speculations about a sequel on the comedy, although it’s not the first time there are comments on this news, as the recent comment by Terry Crews who said the film was in progress.
Marlon told People last October “People always say, ‘Could you do a ‘White Chicks 2′ now?’ I think definitely. A good joke is when you can make the people you’re parodying laugh. Who loves White Chicks the most? White chicks. In this environment, in this climate, we all need something to laugh at about ourselves.”
This revelation confirms what we all know. Paris Hilton definitely was one of the most influential figures in pop culture, and White Chicks is one of the most legendary comedy movies of pop culture of the 2000’s.
