City chic meets contemporary cool.

Spotted on the steps of the MET- Alice + Olivia’s latest line bringing all the Blair Waldorf vibes this season. Stacey Bendet is the New York City-based contemporary clothing company’s creative director, and the brand seems to have taken inspiration from the Big Apple when debuting their AW21 collection because the digital video is something that looks like it came straight out of a Gossip Girl episode. Shot in New York City, the intro of the collection features the models sporting a preppy, edgy mix of plaid, leather and lace, as they strut the streets of the city that never sleeps.

Our first look at the collection is a mix of classic and cool, as the models give the traditional, plaid schoolgirl uniform an edgy twist by pairing the patterned pieces with statement accessories like leather jackets and bold, chunky jewellery. The rich red, grey and black tones of the plaid pieces from the collection are uber luxe- our favourite being a statement plaid trench coat that will be a staple item in our AW wardrobe this season.

As the collection moves indoors to what can only be described as the inside of Blair Waldorf’s penthouse apartment on Fifth Ave, the glitz and glamor of the collection is highlighted through feminine silhouettes and jewel accents. Large pearl necklaces and crystal headpieces accentuate long, flowy dresses in lavish deep hues. As the models cascade down the spiral staircase, we can also see hints of bejewelled necklines and houndstooth suits accented by pops of red and gold. The entire collection is a dream that you don’t want to wake up from.

The Alice + Olivia NYFW digital show tells a story from start to finish- from the steps of the MET to parading down the staircase of a luxurious NYC apartment, this collection is the perfect balance between royally chic and contemporary cool. You know you love it.
