Scott Glenn Surprises Viewers with The White Lotus Appearance

The White Lotus has been turning all kinds of heads these past weeks, and now that the series is nearing its conclusion, it has everyone on the edge of their seats. Last episode, viewers finally came face to face with the man who Walton Goggins‘s Rick believes killed his father. It was as much a surprise for Rick as the audience when actor Scott Glenn walked onto the screen.

Glenn has played many roles during his long career. He’s acted in Urban Cowboy, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Virgin Suicides. He’s also played in HBO’s The Leftovers. And now, he’s dazzling audiences with his performance as The White Lotus’s Jim Hollinger.

Scott Glenn Is Jim Hollinger On The White Lotus

Glenn spoke with Town and Country about obtaining the role of Jim Hollinger. Apparently, Glenn’s agent had told him, “If they offer you anything on this show, I want you to do it because there’s no other show on television that has this kind of an obsessive audience.” Initially, Glenn had no desire to accept The White Lotus’s offer.

He said the show “sent me a description of the character that I did not like. I thought, oh, not another old guy who’s ill with a cane, but he’s still sharp—that sounds like five of the last parts that I was offered and turned down.”

However, after watching a few episodes of The White Lotus season 1, Glenn changed his tune. He said he “was instantly seduced” by the series. “I wanted to be a part of it,” he concluded.

And he is. While Episode 7 was the first episode that showed Hollinger on screen, Glenn’s character has been a big part of the narrative since the beginning of the season. Rick’s quest to find his father’s alleged killer has continually had Hollinger at the forefront of viewers’ minds. Having him finally appear, in the form of Scott Glenn, had everyone ecstatic.

The last episode of The White Lotus season 3 airs on April 6th.
