Taraji P. Henson, of “Hidden Figures” and “Empire” fame, is set to appear in the penultimate episode of the ABC show ‘Abbott Elementary’ second season! We have the scoop on what role she will play, as announced on Saturday at Paleyfest in Los Angeles.
Where Does Henson Fit In ‘Abbott Elementary’?
As noted in this article by the New Yorker, ‘Abbott Elementary’ is a show about a group of teachers in a predominantly Black, underfunded school in Philadelphia. The show is produced by Emy-winning writer Quinta Brunson, who also plays the main character Janine Teague.
The show’s second episode is nearing its finale and the 52-year-old Golden Globe Award winner Taraji P. Henson has been invited to play Janine’s estranged mother Evetta in episode 21, appropriately titled “Mom”, which will be aired on April 12th. The official logline for the episode hints that Evetta comes up unexpectedly and asks Janine for help.
In other news, Quinta Brunson is scheduled to host the April 1st episode of Saturday Night Live. You can watch her SNL skits on NBC at 11:30 ET.
