Tony Leung receives standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.

Internationally recognised star, Tony Leung honoured with the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award in Venice.

And the audience showed their support to the actor with a standing ovation that brought the actor to tears.

In fact, prior to his win at Venice, Leung had been praised for his work in films like ‘In the Mood for Love and Lust.’

Additionally, Leung made his Hollywood debut in 2021 when he starred in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’

Sitting down with Reuters, the Lifetime winner said, “It is like a dream come true.”

However, prior to the ceremony, Leung reflected on the challenges he faced as an actor by playing unfamiliar roles.

While discussing his upcoming crime thriller, “The Goldfinger,” Leung admitted he found it difficult to go from good guy to bad guy.

“I think it’s very challenging to me to play the bad guy,” he said.

Moreover, he opened up on making his first European movie with Director, Ildikó Enyedi titled ‘Silent Friend’ in which he plays a Neuroscientist.

Admitting he would be taking several months to prepare for the role as he is entirely unfamiliar with the field and its people.

But we wish him luck and look forward to more of his performances in the coming months.

Who is Leung and what is he known for?

Born Tony Leung Chiu-wai, in Hong Kong on 27 June 1962.

And he is one of Asia’s most prolific and celebrated actors earning many illustrious awards for his performances.

Among his many awards, include Cannes Film Festival award for Best Actor for his role in ‘In the Mood for Love.’

In fact, he won this award a total 6 times in his career.

Second, he won best actor in the Golden Bauhinia Awards a total of 3 times.

And third, he won best actor in the Asian Film awards in 2008.

Is there any wonder he was honoured with the Lifetime award with a resume like this?
