Breaking news today claims that former Olympic sprinter, Pistorius has been granted parole 10 years after killing his ex-girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius was convicted of murder on a legal principle known as dolus eventualis (noted here) and he spent 6 1/2 years in custody for murdering her on Valentine’s Day.
Pistorius is reportedly set to be released in January.

As noted in this article, Pistorius reportedly shot Steenkamp 10 years ago at his home in Pretoria. As mentioned in the article, Steenkamp was only 29 when she died. She was a law graduate and model. Steenkamp was seemingly killed when the South African athlete used a pistol to fire four shots through the bathroom door at home in Pretoria- he alleges he mistook her for an intruder as mentioned here. This incident occurred in February 2013, on Valentine’s Day.
