SpaceX is preparing for the eighth test flight of its Starship rocket, which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, with a launch window beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT (2330 GMT).

As noted here, the Starship, standing at nearly 400 feet tall, is the world’s largest and most powerful rocket, and will take off from SpaceX’s Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach, Texas.

This flight is highly anticipated as part of SpaceX’s ongoing mission to perfect and advance the Starship system.

However, CEO Elon Musk recently addressed concerns ahead of the flight on X, acknowledging that there are still several uncertainties surrounding the launch. One significant issue involves the Super Heavy booster’s ground spin start pressure, which Musk noted was “20 bar low.”

As mentioned here, this pressure is vital for initiating the ignition of the 33 Raptor engines that power the rocket, as the engines rely on spin pumps to ignite propellants under optimal conditions for takeoff.

To ensure the rocket is ready for launch, SpaceX decided to de-stack the vehicle, thoroughly inspect both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship upper stage, and attempt the launch again once the issue is resolved.

This news follows claims of Katy Perry, Gayle King, and Lauren Sánchez joining the next crewed flight from Jeff Bezos’ rocket company, Blue Origin. The celebrities will be part of a team of three other women on the upcoming mission, which is scheduled to launch this spring.
