There was a large mistake made in regard to the recently released Wicked movie doll toys from Mattel.

November 11, 2024– According to this article by TMZ, Mattel is in hot water following a claim that the packaging for new Wicked movie dolls features a link to an NSFW website.

The mistake- which was reportedly an accident- quickly went viral online, as the website on the packaging seemingly links to an adult entertainment site instead of the Wicked movie website.

As shown in this related Reddit post, in addition to allegedly being found on the Wicked dolls Glinda and Elphaba, the mistake was also noticed on the Fiyero doll.

This sparked a widespread debate in the comment section, where Reddit users seemingly put blame on “the studio and the dolls manufacturer” for this “epic and embarrassing failure.” There were also allegations that someone got fired over this mistake but this is a rumor that has not been confirmed.

So, is there a solution to this issue?

Mattel has reportedly issued an apology statement, which is visible on this Instagram post from their account:

As well, parents who purchased dolls with a print mistake are urged to throw away the packaging or obscure/block out the website listed on the incorrect packaging. They can also contact Mattel Customer Support for more information, as outlined in the statement by the brand.
