Leandro De Niro’s Death Update
Leandro De Niro Rodriguez was allegedly sold narcotics by Sofia Haley Marks prior to him being discovered dead in his Financial District flat on July 2. At the scene the aspiring young actor was discovered as unconscious, but police pronounced him dead at the scene. Law enforcement sources told NBC News that Sofia was arrested on “federal drug distribution charges.” Sofia was arrested during an undercover sting operation conducted by NYPD on Thursday at 6pm. Later in the evening, investigators were still looking through her house. The source claims that she is expected to appear in federal court on July 14th in lower Manhattan.
Near Leandro’s body the police found a white powdery substance and drug paraphernalia, thus assuming a drug overdose. Drena De Niro, Leandro’s mother had previously revealed that she believes his death was drug-related. Drena wrote on Instagram, “Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him so for all these people still f—king around selling and buying this s—t, my son is gone forever ?.”

Leandro’s mother broke the news to the public on July 2nd with an Instagram post. She expressed her love and grief for her “beautiful sweet angel”. Robert De Niro who is Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s grandfather took the time for mourning and felt “deeply distressed” from the passing of his grandson.
