Zayn Malik on Call Her Daddy Podcast

For the first time in nearly 6 years, Zayn Malik joins Call Her Daddy for a sit-down interview. The “PILLOWTALK” artist opens up about his anxiety, his daughter Khai, and the allegations from Yolanda Hadid.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid share a 50/50 custody arrangement with their 2-year-old daughter Khai. The One Direction alumni expressed how much he values his time with his daughter as he said on the Call Her Daddy Podcast, “If I could get 60 percent [custody], I would have it.”

“I have her 50 percent of the time, so that time I have with her is so important because I feel like she’s growing up so fast. So when I’m with her, I don’t work at all. I just spend a full day with her doing the things like painting, playdough, this, that. Go to the park, go to the theme park, go to the zoo. We just have fun.”

Zayn tells Alex that his favorite passion he shares with his daughter is music. “She shows a lot of signs of, like, musical intelligence already.” He adds, “She’s only two and a half, and she harmonizes with me and, like, finishes notes. She can hold them a long time.” I can already feel the artist in Khai emerging. Like father like daughter right?

What happened between Yolanda and Zayn?

In 2021, Gigi Hadid’s mother Yolanda Hadid accused Zayn Malik of pushing Yolanda during a verbal altercation. At the time, Zayn had told ET, “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.” But Zayn ended up pleading no contest to the harassment and was placed under probation for 360 days. The judge had also ordered him to attend a domestic violence program and an anger management class. In the interview, Malik expresses his preference for privacy and also how he wanted to protect his daughter from all the negativity circulating online about the situation. “Any sort of narrative online where my daughter was going to look back and read that and be able to read into it and it would just be something that was — there was no point. I believe I dealt with it in in the best way, in like an amicable, respectful way and that’s all that needs to be said.”

As a new father, Zayn mentions that having his daughter around has impacted his confidence and is helping with his anxiety. His new song “Love Like This” will drop July 21.
