Netflix released more information this month on season 3 of Bridgerton. Castmate Nicola Coughlan spoke about her reaction to the latest installment.

As HOLR previously reported, Netflix’s hit period drama Bridgerton is coming back with a third season. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, recently spoke with Elle to discuss the newest installment of the Regency-era show.
‘I’m so excited, I honestly can’t wait,” the Irish actress exclaimed in an interview with Elle, “the fans of Bridgerton are amazing and they are impatient for the series, and I’m like, “You think you’re impatient, you’ve no idea how impatient I feel about it.”
Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date
Netflix announced earlier this month the release dates of season 3, which will be divided into two parts, on May 16th and June 13th. The statement went on to say that the newest season will focus on the relationship between Penelope and Colin Bridgerton, younger brother to Daphne and Anthony Bridgerton, the subjects of season 1 and season 2, respectively.
Nicola Coughlan Fan Reaction
While fans expressed their excitement for another season on social media, many also expressed their dismay at the show’s focus on Penelope, who last season revealed herself to be Lady Whistledown, a mysterious writer who reports on the scandals of the upper class. Nicola Coughlan discussed this in her interview with Elle recently.
“Loads of people get mad at me for things Penelope did,” The actress admitted, “but I really didn’t do them because it’s a script and I see the words and do acting.”
Bridgerton Season 2 recap
The show previously hinted that Colin and Penelope would eventually be the center of an upcoming season. In season 1, Penelope’s feelings towards Colin Bridgerton were clear from how she spoke of and to him. Season 2, on the other hand, saw the return of Colin from his travels abroad. Upon first seeing Penelope in the opening episode, the younger Bridgerton brother seems to be left speechless by the sight of her.
However, in the season 2 finale, Penelope overhears Colin speaking with a group of men seeming to say that he is not romantically interested in Penelope. Fans will have to tune into season 3 to see whether these two will end up together or not.
