Netflix is making a new Peaky Blinders storyline.

June 11, 2024- Netflix has announced that a Peaky Blinders film is in the works, with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as the main character Thomas Shelby.

Murphy, who played Tommy Shelby for all six seasons, will also be producing the film alongside writer Steven Knight and director Tom Harper.

Murphy, Knight, and Harper are currently the only names known for the upcoming project.

In an Instagram post, Murphy said “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This one is for the fans.”

Production for the film will commence later this year and will be made in association with BBC Film, according to Variety.

Although plot details and context remain unknown, the film is set to be a continuation of the Peaky Blinders show, which follows the Shelby crime family of Birmingham in the aftermath of World War I.Netflix UK announces a Peaky Blinders film.

The show first aired on BBC in 2013 but eventually became a huge hit across the world after Netflix bought the rights to the show in 2014.

The series cast additionally included stars Sam Neill, Helen McCrory, and Tom Hardy.

The sixth season of the show was listed in the top 10 in TV in 83 countries on Netflix.

Knight, the film’s screenwriter, also created and wrote the original series.

Over the course of his career, Knight has 36 film nominations and 12 wins under his belt.

Murphy recently swept the 2024 award season with his role in “Oppenheimer”, leaving fans excited to see the reprisal of his role as notorious gangster Tommy Shelby. Netflix UK announces a Peaky Blinders film.
