On Monday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced this year’s inductees. The museum announced on its website and social media accounts the 16 inductees in various categories. Notable inductees included Cher, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, A Tribe Called Quest, and Ozzy Osbourne.

Taking to social media, Mary J. Blige said she was “[b]eyond grateful”, thanking her fans and God for the honor. Dave Matthews Band also thanked their fans and felt “honored” to be inducted.

While artists qualify for induction 25 years after their first recording, Cher’s induction comes 60 years after the first recording of Sonny & Cher. The iconic singer previously said she viewed not being nominated as “kind of rude,”

Cher has yet to make a statement on her induction.

What is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Known simply as Rock Hall, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a museum located in Cleveland. Founded in 1995 by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, the museum “celebrates the sound of youth culture and honors the artists whose music connects us all,”

Each year, Rock Hall announces new inductees into its ranks. Previous artists inducted include ABBA, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Johnny Cash.
