September 14th, 2024 – New details about the officer involved in the Tyreek Hill incident.

Tyreek Hill Arresting Officer

The cop who put his knee in Tyreek Hill’s back reportedly has been reprimanded for misconduct. According to Miami-Dade Police Department records, Officer Danny Torres has received numerous complaints since joining the MDPD in October 1996. The records show that he was accused of misconduct on six separate occasions, including excessive force and improper procedures. Torres was also investigated for his actions on the job at least 13 times.

Torres’ records show he’s been disciplined quite a bit in his decades-long career. He’s received written reprimands, multiple suspensions, and one 20-day ban in 2018. However, Torres has also received over two dozen messages of praise during his career, including one award for professionalism in May 2023. According to the MDPD, Torres is currently on administrative duties as officials launched an investigation into his behavior during the traffic stop involving Hill outside of Hard Rock Stadium last Sunday.

During the traffic stop, Hill claimed Torres was too rough with him and believed the actions should have led to his firing. Torres’ reps, meanwhile, have argued his conduct was justified due to Hill’s lack of cooperation at the scene and have asked for his reinstatement. Hill was given two citations during the encounter, one for careless driving and one for a seat belt violation. However, Hill still made it to his games and put out a great performance despite the issue.
