Already, 2019 has been a helluva of a year on the music scene with promising new artists becoming phenomenons overnight. Rappers like Blue face and YNW Melly are surfacing with no motive to back off the charts- same with Lil Nas X.

Allow me to introduce you to Montero Lamar Hill, better known as Lil Nas X. He’s a rapper and songwriter originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and his known for his interesting mix of the country and rap genres — two extreme opposite ends right?
He first was known as an internet personality on Twitter, and gained popularity through his viral tweets. Later on, he started to upload songs on Soundcloud where eventually his single, Old Town Road, went completely viral all over the internet.
Country and Rap music both have intense followers and a whole lot of listeners, and could potentially be the perfect mix. Take for example Old Town Road, the single that is extremely popular on TikTok (an app made famous by influencers) yet somewhat controversial for its crossover of two very similar but different genres. It is not at all what you would expect, but I have an unshakable feeling Country Rap just might be all over the radio in 2020.
